Osmos, Electric Museum, Moscow, Russia, 2021.

"Osmosis"—from the Greek for "push, pressure"—refers to the diffusion or mixing of substances through a membrane, balancing concentrations between solutions. But how does this strictly scientific concept apply to contemporary artistic practice?

Artists working in traditional media, such as painting and sculpture, increasingly draw inspiration from new aesthetics, while those engaged with emerging technologies often seek grounding and creative impetus in classical visual art. These dynamics mirror the osmotic equilibration observed in physical and biological systems, where disparate elements influence one another to achieve balance. In this way, old and new media engage in a mutual exchange, driving the evolution of contemporary visual language. The exhibition presents the results of this cross-pollination.
